The quiet, yet determined Teddy Maier doesn’t say too much off the track, but instead prefers to focus his energy on getting results on the track. After a brief visit to the Calgary national in 2004, Maier signed on with Richmond Racing Kawasaki to race the entire MX2 West series. At the first round in Mission, BC, Maier struggled in the deep mud and finished ninth. But he came back the next weekend in Nanaimo and showed he was a contender for the title, finishing second in both motos. He found the podium again at the final round in Regina and finished third overall behind his teammate, Jeff Northrop.

Joining Kyle Chisholm and Donnie McGourty in the Eastern Region SX Lites series, Maier finished eight at the eastern series opener in St. Louis then bettered that result with a seventh-place in Atlanta. He ended the series in eighth overall. Not bad for his first season of SX.

Maier will be back in the west this summer, riding a KX250F for Richmond Racing Kawasaki.
