Monster Energy Cernics Kawasaki’s Paul Carpenter topped the podium at the CMRC Monster Energy Motocross Nationals event in Gopher Dunes, Ontario. This is Carpenter’s second overall victory and has won three of the four motos thus far. Teammate Jeff Gibson had to work his way through the pack after poor starts to finish in seventh overall.

Carpenter started moto one with a holeshot but an incident behind him caused the race to be red flagged. On the restart, he didn’t get such a good start and climbed his way into second place behind Jean Sebastien Roy. Carpenter eventually passed for the lead on the last lap when Roy encountered a problem that caused him to DNF the moto. In the second moto, Carpenter started in fourth position and passed for the lead early in the race and led all the way to the finish.

“I had a real good day,” said Carpenter after the race. “I rode great and my Monster Energy Cernics Kawasaki ran solid all day. The deep sand took a toll today and I’m glad I had my KX450F to power me to the win. The team worked hard in some bad conditions so it was a definite team effort.”

Coming into the race, Carpenter was tied in points for the series’ lead but came away with a cushion over Jean Sebastien Roy. “I am excited for this win today,” exclaimed team owner Billy Whitley. “Paul gained some valuable points today but Roy is a great competitor and he will be fighting hard to get those points back. We just need to stay focused because this is a long series and you never know what can happen.”

The Monster Energy Cernics Kawasaki Racing Team heads to Morden, MB in two weeks to compete in round three of the CMRC Monster Energy Motocross Nationals. The team’s MX2 rider, Tucker Hibbert will be making his debut for the team in Morden.
